Collections Display: Maylin's Thimbles

Upstairs in the nonfiction area we have a ongoing display that features different collections that people in our community own. This month we highlighted my mother's thimble collection.
It was so fun for me to be able to help mom fill the 2 display cases with her collection.

My co-worker Jen wrote up little descriptions about some of the thimbles.

We even hung some of her thimble Christmas ornaments.

Readers' Brunch

For the end of our summer reading program for adults we had a readers' brunch. In order to receive an invitation participants had to read 2,000 pages and checked in 3 times over the summer. In other words they completed the program. We had an enjoyable morning with juice, muffins, bagels, fruit and books! We had door prizes, free books and did the grand prize drawing.

For brunch we had muffins, bagels, fruit and juice.

Tables were decorated with books and MPL pens.

Everyone got to take home a book from the center of the tables.

Door prizes

Grand prize: Eclipse Package (chips & salsa, pizza coupon, soda, cups, t-shirts, and eclipse glasses, and book bag)

The Girl.... (book display)

Have you ever noticed that there are many many titles that start out The Girl.....?
For example: The Girl on the Train, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl with the Silver Eyes or The Girl with the Pearl Earring. Several of us librarians have joked about how many there are so I went ahead and made a display of it.
Side view

I was told the sign read like a poem and I have to agree it sorta does 😁 but it just a few of the titles from the display.

View from front

So Many books that include "the Girl..." in the title.

Poster on the top of the display. (Same has sides but different picture)

Books from all sections are included in the display. Even a few picture books.
The poster used on the sides of the display. Fill free to use in your library. Picture is from a google images search of "girl reading." Then I listed a few of the titles that are found on the display.

Cardboard Arcade

The teens had a cardboard arcade for the end of summer reading. My family made a giant Labyrinth game for the event. It was very fun to play.
