Cook book group

The theme for November's discussion was: COOKIES!
Instead of choosing one book for us all to pick a recipe from. I let our members choose any cookie recipe they wanted. All were delicious!

Betcha Can't Read Just One

Chips are so salty and delicious that it is often hard to only eat one.
Lay's has the great tag line "Betcha can't eat just one."
For this display on series I took that tag line and changed it to "Betcha can't read just one."
Recycled old chip bags to go with the theme

The bags are attached to the sides of the display.

Front of display filled with books that are the first books in their series.

"chips" coming out of the bag have titles of different series available at our library.

Fairy Tales Retold

Fairy tales and folklore retold is a category in the 50/50 Book Quest.

Several books from children's fiction, young adult and adult are all on display.

Our toad puppet makes the perfect topper for this display. A paper crown was added. So far I've only seen one patron kiss him.

Marshall Madness 2019

In years past for MPL Battle of the Books we had popular books "battle" for the winners spot with patrons voting through a bracket style tournament, but this year it's all about the authors in MPL's 2019 Marshall Madness: Authors Edition.

Starting February 25, the library will be hosting a tournament among authors that have been nominated by librarians. The authors have been fit into 4 teams; Classics, Nonfiction, Youth, and Series. Each week residents will cast their ballots for which authors should advance to the next round.  Each "team" will have an author that continues to the final four. Then, from there, our winning author will be voted to take the #1 spot for 2019 Marshall Madness: Authors Edition.
Bracket style tournament to keep track of winners moving up in each round

Don't know an author? Lift the flap to reveal a few of their titles.
Voting  has narrowed them down to top eight.
UPDATE: We have a winner!

2019 winning author is J. K. Rowling with team Series.

Blind Date with a Book

Every February we do a display called "blind date with a book." This will be the 7th year that we wrap the books so that you cannot see the title or peek inside. Books are like a box of chocolates.... You never know what you're going to get. But we will let you know the flavor.

We have labeled the books with a sticker like romance, mystery, or scifi. To mix things up a bit this year we are telling you how your “blind date” will end. In other words the last sentence of the book.
