Reader's Brunch Summer Reading Program for adults

With the theme Libraries Rock we decorated the tables using books, CDs, and records.

Patrons who read 2,000 pages or more were invited to the readers brunch. We had 35 patrons attend the brunch this year. That is more then double from last year.

Fruit, bagels, and muffins!

Bouquet made by one of our librarians.

We gave time for them to eat and talk. Most conversations I heard were about books!

I gave everyone a sticky note to write down a book they enjoyed this summer. Then we posted them on the white board.

There were some really great suggestions.

50/50 Book Quest

Patrons are starting to finish the 50/50 Book Quest (the challenge to read 50 books in 50 categories in 50 weeks). This is the Completion card we have them fill out so we will know their shirt size and if they want someone else to pick it up for them. Shirts will not be ordered until the end of the challenge. I am getting some really good feed back on suggested categories for next year.

Book Journals

We had a summer reading activity to make book journals. We took composition notebooks and covered them with scrap-booking paper using Mod Podge. The notebooks came in a few different sizes. The most popular was the 5X7.
Pictures of some of the journals made at the library program.

PBS Great American Read

After getting several questions about the Great American Read. This list contains 100 fantastic books. I decided we needed that to be the next display at the Marshall Public Library. More information on PBS Great American Read can be found at https://www.pbs.org/the-great-american-read/home/. Artwork is from the PBS website.
